Note:
All individuals residing in the city of Pawtucket and serving as the owner or
caregiver of a dog aged six months or older are required to obtain an annual
license for their canine companion.
How can I file for a dog license?
All applications are processed online, only.
A user account will be required to complete the online application.
Credit Cards, Electronic Checks, Cash, Checks and Money Orders are accepted for licenses.
The City Clerk’s Office is available to assist you through this process.

Do dogs have to be licensed?
ALL DOGS ARE REQUIRED TO BE LICENSED
Every person residing in the City of Pawtucket who is the owner or keeper of a dog six months old or over, must license said dog annually.
Rabies information
COPY OF RABIES CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED
DISCOUNTS for dogs that are spayed or neutered – Rabies Certificate must state that dog has been spayed or neutered or provide spay/neuter certificate
CATS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE LICENSED
TO RECEIVE DISCOUNT – Rabies Certificate must state that dog has been spayed or neutered or provide spay/neuter certificate.
Rhode Island General Law requires all Dogs, Cats (including indoor cats), and ferrets be vaccinated against Rabies.
• $16.00 (Spayed/Neutered – must present certificate of spay/neuter)
• $26.00 (Not Spayed/Neutered)
Senior Citizens Discount (Residents 65 years of age or older – must present proof of age):
• $6.00 (Spayed/Neutered – must present certificate of spay/neuter)
• $11.00 (Not Spayed/Neutered)

Does the City hold an Annual Rabies Clinic?
The City of Pawtucket hosts an annual rabies clinic usually during the month of March or April.

Rabies Shot – $10.00 cash only
Rhode Island General Law requires all Dogs, Cats (including indoor cats), and ferrets be vaccinated against Rabies.
PLEASE BRING CURRENT RABIES CERTIFICATE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A THREE (3) YEAR RABIES CERTIFICATE.
Minimum age for vaccination is three (3) months.
ALL DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AND ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
ALL CATS AND ALL FERRETS MUST BE IN A CARRIER.
