City of Pawtucket and SPIN Expand Electric Scooter Pilot Program Ahead of Centreville Bank Stadium Opening Weekend
PAWTUCKET – Just in time for the much-anticipated Opening Weekend at the new Centreville Bank Stadium, the City of Pawtucket is excited to announce the expansion of its micromobility electric scooter pilot program in partnership with SPIN, a leading provider of shared e-scooter and e-bike transportation. This expanded effort will provide residents and visitors with access to events, dining, and entertainment downtown while reducing automotive traffic.
The expanded pilot allows SPIN to increase its fleet by up to 100 additional scooters and 50 additional e-bikes during high-traffic weekends and city-wide events, such as this weekend’s stadium opening festivities. The program is part of the City’s broader efforts to enhance accessibility, reduce congestion, and support eco-friendly travel options.
“Our partnership with SPIN helps connect people to the places they want to go,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “We’re thrilled to offer this expanded option for getting around as the City welcomes so many new visitors with the opening of Centreville Bank Stadium.”
The micromobility program, which began as a pilot initiative, has been extended through December 31, 2025, with the potential for a one-year renewal through 2026. As part of this expansion, scooters and e-bikes will be available 24 hours a day through August 30, 2025, offering added flexibility for users attending evening events and weekend activities. All scooters are GPS-tracked, equipped with safety features, and monitored through a local operations team in Pawtucket.
“This expansion meets people where they are with flexible ways to move around the city,” said Chris Crawley, Director of Public Works. “SPIN has been a great partner, and we are glad to work with them to implement this agreement.”
“We’re proud to work with the City of Pawtucket to support access to affordable transportation, especially during key moments like this weekend’s stadium opening,” said John Lankford, Senior Director of Partnerships, Policy & Communications at SPIN. “We are grateful to the City of Pawtucket and Centreville Bank Stadium for their partnership, and applaud this initiative to incorporate shared micromobility as a sustainable transportation option for the new stadium.”
The SPIN scooters and bikes can be located and rented through the SPIN mobile app. Riders are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, wear helmets, and park scooters responsibly.
