Weekly Recap

This week, we saw exciting growth and teamwork in the Conant Thread District, where businesses like Working Man Distillers, Dark Outpost Distilling, and Shri Yoga are helping shape the future of this historic area. We also attended the Placemaking Initiative Awards, where Pawtucket’s Riverwalk Sculpture Park received funding to bring more public art to our city. Congrats to the Empowerment Factory for also receiving a grant to continue their great work!

Pawtucket’s community spirit was in full force as we joined the Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the first International Trade Mission Colombia-Rhode Island 2025, recognizing our growing Colombian community and business connections. We were also touched by the kindness of St. Teresa’s Elementary School students, who put together baskets for community members, Mayor Grebien, and our Police and Fire Departments during National Catholic Schools Week. Students from Blackstone Academy also visited City Hall, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at our Police and Fire Departments—huge thanks to our first responders for making it a special visit!

We ended the week with moments of celebration and solidarity. The City of Pawtucket sends best wishes for a happy and successful Lunar New Year as we welcome the Year of the Snake! We also stood with 13-year-old Jairo Fortes and his family, alongside Cops for Kids with Cancer, as he bravely fights leukemia. Pawtucket continues to show what it means to come together as a community!
