Weekly Recap
What a great week in Pawtucket! We’re thrilled to share that Bloom Rhode Island is offering mini-grants to local gardeners, helping to brighten our public spaces with beautiful flowers. If you’re passionate about gardening and want to contribute to your neighborhood’s beauty, be sure to check out the full article here: https://www.valleybreeze.com/news/woonsocket/bloom-rhode-island-offers-mini-grants-for-flower-gardening-projects/article_efee426e-dcf7-11ef-a6ac-172922f53f44.html . Meanwhile, the Pawtucket Arbor Day Committee is calling on young artists to submit their designs for the Arbor Day Poster Contest, with entries due by February 18th. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their creativity while promoting environmental awareness! We also had the chance to recognize outstanding achievements across our community. Congratulations to the newly sworn-in officers of Society Jacques Cartier for their dedication to service and tradition! Our local 4th graders made us proud by earning their way to the Providence College Women’s Basketball game through stellar attendance—an amazing example of hard work paying off! Over at Nathanael Greene Elementary School, students have been spreading kindness by writing uplifting messages to one another, creating a beautiful “kindness tree” that reminds us all of the power of positivity.
February kicked off with meaningful celebrations, including the 30th annual Langston Hughes Community Poetry Reading, a powerful tribute to his legacy and an inspiring start to Black History Month. City staff also showed their support for American Heart Month by wearing red to promote heart health awareness. And for those who love the arts, don’t miss the Pawtucket Arts and Culture Commission’s “Artworks” exhibit, featuring pieces by City employees, now on display at City Hall throughout February. There’s always something exciting happening in Pawtucket—stay tuned for more next week!
