SLATER PARK SUMMER ADULT TENNIS LEAGUE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
The Slater Memorial Park Summer Adult Tennis League, facilitated by the Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division came to an end following the individual championships held during the weeks of August 12 and August 19.
In the Women’s Singles Division facilitated by Katherine Braganca, Nicolette Carney of Lincoln, Rhode Island edged out a victory to take the title of Champion in the 2024 Adult Tennis League Finals. Gabriella Scarpone from Pawtucket received recognition as this year’s Rookie of the Year.
Following the Womens Doubles Division 1 Finals facilitated by Brigid Keefe, Maureen Dipietro from Seekonk, Massachusetts and Tina Odessa of Pawtucket defeated Erika and Hannah Augustyn, both from Riverside, Rhode Island, 8-2. Marietta Khimatian of Cumberland and Tina Trahan from Pawtucket went on to take the champion title from Kathleen Ramm and Suzy DaRosa, both from North Attleboro in Division 2, 8-5.
In the Mens Singles League facilitated by Scott Corain, Garrett Smith of South Kingstown defeated Sunil Jagannath from Rehoboth, 6-4, 6-2 in the Division 1 Finals. Riley Masse of Pawtucket defeated Mark Steketee, also from Pawtucket, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the Division 2 finals while Juan Bedoya of Plainville, Massachusetts, defeated Boki Zelen from Pawtucket 7-6(2), 6-3 in the Division 3 finals.
Lastly, the points were tallied and the winners were announced in the Mens Doubles League facilitated by Michael Majdalani. From Division A, Frank Salvatore from Sharon Massachusetts, placed in first following Manny Pacheco of Pawtucket in second, David Harrington from Pawtucket in third and Johnny Moretti of North Providence in fourth place. In Division B, Brian Gil of Pawtucket in first overall followed by Adam Williams from Providence in second, David McKitchen from Pawtucket in third and Frank Leso of Cumberland in 4th place.
