Weekly Recap
Pawtucket Residents:
- The City of Pawtucket extends warm Thanksgiving wishes and gratitude to the community for their continued generosity. As the holiday season begins, the city, School Department, and Housing Authority are continuing their citywide food drive to support neighbors in need. Residents are encouraged to contribute if able, helping bring comfort and kindness to local families facing hardship.
- The City of Pawtucket hosted the 2nd Annual Native American Heritage Month Celebration at the Blackstone Valley Visitors Center, in partnership with the Providence Cultural Equity Initiative and the Rhode Island American Indian Heritage Commission. The event featured land acknowledgment, performances by the Pomham Singers, the reading of the State Indian Act, and presentations from indigenous leaders across the state. Mayor Grebien and Councilman Araujo also issued a proclamation officially recognizing November as Native American Heritage Month in Pawtucket.
- Pawtucket middle and high school students are invited to join the Youth 2 Senior Snow Shoveling Program, a volunteer initiative that helps local seniors while allowing students to earn community service hours. At the end of the season, participants are honored at a celebratory event recognizing their service. For more information or to sign up, families can contact Chief Equity Officer Charles “Chachi” Carvalho.
- RIDOT is inviting Rhode Islanders to complete a brief survey on train travel to help improve service, accessibility, and future public transportation planning. Community members can find more details and access the survey through the flyer below.
