Weekly Recap
Pawtucket Residents:
- This week, city leaders joined together to encourage community support for Pawtucket families facing food insecurity. The City of Pawtucket, Pawtucket School Department, and Pawtucket Housing Authority continue their citywide food drive, and residents who are able are encouraged to contribute as Thanksgiving approaches. Early donations have already shown tremendous generosity, and every contribution helps ensure local families know they’re not alone during difficult times.
- The Pawtucket Veterans Council’s Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony brought together veterans, families, officials, and community members to honor those who have served. The program featured remarks, musical tributes, and presentations by local students and veterans. A memorial exhibit honoring Private First-Class Kyle J. Coutu will remain on display in City Hall through November.
- Pawtucket middle and high school students can join the Youth 2 Senior Snow Shoveling Program to earn community service hours while helping neighbors. A celebratory event will recognize participants at the end of the season. Interested students or parents should contact Chief Equity Officer Charles “Chachi” Carvalho for more information.
- RIDOT is conducting a brief survey to gather input from Rhode Islanders about train travel, whether you ride regularly or not. Your feedback will help improve services, accessibility, and future public transportation planning. See the flyer below for details and to take the survey.
- Pawtucket has officially joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, working to ensure the needs of older residents are met. The city invites residents and caregivers aged 45+ to share their input through a survey to help improve quality of life. Learn more and access the survey via the link or QR code provided.
