Weekly Recap
This week in Pawtucket was all about showing up for one another. From recognizing the everyday heroes who work in our schools, departments and emergency services to celebrating the businesses and community spaces that make our city special, the energy throughout the city was full of connection and appreciation. We kicked off with heartfelt visits to classrooms for Teacher Appreciation Week where Mayor Grebien and department leaders surprised teachers with tokens of gratitude. We also came together for the annual May Breakfast to recognize our dedicated municipal employees across every department who help keep Pawtucket running strong. This comes as a part of our celebrations for Public Service Appreciation Week. Our first responders were also honored during the annual Police and Fire Award Ceremonies, where we applauded their courage and commitment to safety.
#SmallBusinessWeek gave us another great reason to get out into our neighborhoods. From local tacos and coffee to insurance services and auto detailing, we spent the week visiting businesses that contribute so much to the heart of our city. Stops included Taqueria Mauricio, Slater Perk, Garcia Insurance and Jeff Millette Auto Center among many others. Local leaders also gathered for the Bimonthly Town Admin Luncheon at Azul Tequila Bar where the spotlight remained on small business and community support. The city also joined statewide conversations about growing small business development through leadership and local investment.
We closed out the week with more celebrations and important reminders. At the Senior Health and Resource Fair, we recognized May as Older Americans Month and reinforced our commitment to healthy aging and support services. We joined Governor McKee at Winters Elementary to keep the Learn365 conversation going and showed up at the RI Kids Count Factbook Breakfast to advocate for a brighter future for all children. With Little League season underway and the Student Food Truck RoundUp bringing young leaders together, it’s clear that Pawtucket is a city that values community, collaboration and care.
