Weekly Recap
Recapping another great week in Pawtucket! This week, the City joined the Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year event to celebrate the next generation of leaders who are proving that dedication and determination pave the way for success. We also had reason to celebrate Tolman High School’s own Jovan Santos, who won the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Financial Literacy Trivia Challenge, securing a $500 grand prize. We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate events like these, which promote the achievements of our students.
Beyond uplifting our youth, Pawtucket showed its commitment to strengthening partnerships and honoring cultural heritage. At the Brava’s Bridge for Health fundraiser, we proudly supported the donation of Engine 8 to our friends in Brava, Cape Verde, reinforcing our international ties. Meanwhile, we stood in solidarity with our Greek community by raising the Greek flag in honor of Greek Independence Day, a powerful reminder of the diverse cultures that make Pawtucket home. We also joined the Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in celebrating the grand opening of their new building, recognizing the ongoing growth and impact of Hispanic businesses in our city and beyond.
The week was also filled with acts of service and exciting announcements. Members of the Pawtucket Police and Fire Departments took a frigid plunge into the ocean for a great cause, raising funds for Special Olympics Rhode Island and reminding us all of the power of community giving. We also joined United Way of Rhode Island for the Power of Women event, celebrating the achievements and leadership of women across the state. And for food lovers, big news—Maven’s Delicatessen is coming to the new Rhode Island FC stadium, bringing delicious deli sandwiches to the beer garden. From investing in our youth to supporting local businesses and championing inclusivity, Pawtucket continues to shine as a city that lifts people up and moves forward together.
