Dear Pawtucket Residents,

Many of you are likely aware that 46 dogs were recently rescued from a hoarding situation in the City. I’m writing to express my gratitude to the community for their unwavering support for the well-being of these animals. I’m immensely proud of the coordinated response from local shelters, volunteers, and staff who provided medical treatment, grooming, and care to the dogs.

I want to express my deepest appreciation to the animal control officers and shelter workers who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to rescuing and caring for these dogs, in addition to their ongoing responsibilities. I also wish to acknowledge the statewide efforts of organizations like the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA), the Diamond Hill Animal Clinic, and numerous shelters including the Providence Animal Rescue League, Potter League for Animals, Cranston Animal Shelter, and Friends of Homeless Animals RI. Their collaborative efforts and unwavering support have proven to be invaluable.

The outpouring of donations and support from members of the public and charitable organizations has been truly heartwarming. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, most of the dogs will soon be available for adoption. If you’re interested in adopting or supporting these animals, please visit pawtucketanimalshelter.com or our partner organizations’ websites: Potterleague.org; RISPCA.org; PARL.org; FOHARI.org

The response from our city has been nothing short of extraordinary, embodying the compassion and kindness that define our city. Together, we have made a significant difference in the lives of these animals, and I am grateful for every one of you who contributed to this effort.

With warm regards,

Donald R. Grebien
