City of Pawtucket to Host Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

PAWTUCKET – The City of Pawtucket, in partnership with the Pawtucket Veterans Council, will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Exchange Street.

This meaningful event honors the brave service members who gave their lives in defense of our country. All community members are invited to attend and take part in this event.

“We are proud to continue this important tradition alongside the Pawtucket Veterans Council,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “Each year, this ceremony remembers the profound sacrifices made by our armed service members, and the responsibility we share to honor their memory. I encourage everyone in our community to join us.”

City Council President Terrence Mercer, who will be a guest speaker at this year’s event, highlighted the importance of collaborating with our community groups. “Working with the Veterans Council on events like this is something we look forward to each year,” said Mercer. “Their commitment ensures that we continue to recognize the meaning of Memorial Day with the respect it deserves.”

“Memorial Day holds deep meaning for those of us who served,” said John Gallo, President of the Pawtucket Veterans Council. “This ceremony is a moment to honor our brothers and sisters who never made it home, and I am so proud to participate every year.”

The ceremony will include remarks from local officials, veterans, and community leaders, along with ceremonial honors.
