City of Pawtucket Partners with Three Local Organizations for Translation and Interpretation Services
PAWTUCKET – Today, Mayor Donald R. Grebien and the City of Pawtucket announced that the city is partnering with three local organizations for translation and interpretation services: Be Moore Interpreting, Center for Southeast Asians, Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island.
“Pawtucket is a vibrant, diverse city, full of individuals from all different backgrounds and cultures, and many of our residents, do not speak English as a first language,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “By implementing these three well-known, credible, translation and interpretation services, we are ensuring that all residents have access to materials in their native language.”
These services will translate any public-facing documents such as advertisements, public notices, mailers, flyers, calendars, social media posts, and more. Interpretation services will be used throughout the courts as well as public meetings when requested.
“I am thrilled that we have on-boarded three, full-service translation and interpretation companies,” said Charles Carvalho, Chief Equity Officer of the City of Pawtucket. “Part of my role is to ensure that all populations are fairly represented throughout the city, and working with Be Moore, Center for Southeast Asians, and Dorcas International, we are doing just that.”
Translation of documents and interpretation services have been implemented as of Monday, May 20, 2024, and will be managed by Chief Equity Officer, Charles Carvalho.
