The Pawtucket City Council will hold a public hearing on the following proposed amendments which are under consideration to the Pawtucket Zoning Ordinance on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Pawtucket Municipal Annex, 100 Freight Street, Temporary City Council Chambers, Second Floor, enter parking lot at 75 Sabin Street, Pawtucket, RI, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 410 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET 1996, ENTITLED “ZONING” (Text – Table of Use and Special Use permit Requirements for Retail Cannabis Establishments)

- 410-60: Special Use Permit Requirements
Add the following category and requirements:
- Medical Marijuana Cultivation and Distribution.
(5) Adult Use Cannabis Retail License Facilities (as authorized and licensed under Chapter 28.6 of Title 21 of the Rhode Island General Laws and the Cannabis Control Commission thereunder).
Adult Use Cannabis Retail License facilities may be permitted by a special use permit in Industrial Open (MO) and Industrial Built-Up (MB) Zones, specific requirements added as sections 5(a) – 5(p)
The proposed ordinance may be examined and copied at cost at the Office of the City Clerk, Pawtucket City Hall, 3rd Floor, 137 Roosevelt Avenue, Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (excluding holidays closures)
The proposed ordinance may be modified or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because of views expressed at the public hearing. Any modification or amendment will be presented for comment in the course of the hearing.
